Ted Suihkonen grew up playing hockey in Northern Minnesota for the state powerhouse and ’95 State Champion Duluth East Greyhounds along with Team USA camps. After spending time in the Junior League, Ted continued his playing career with the University of Alaska Anchorage, Division 1 (WCHA), before then going onto play professional hockey in Europe (Holland, Italy, Germany and Sweden). Unfortunately, Ted’s playing career was cut short due to a series of knee injuries. Having dedicated his life to the sport he loved, Ted decided to enter into the world of coaching by initially returning to Alaska. Since then Ted has progressed his way up the coaching ladder where he is now the current Head Coach of IHK Comet Halden (professional Norwegian team) and assistant coach of the U20 Norwegian National Team. Not content with just coaching within the mainstream structure of Ice Hockey, Ted established his own company “Suihkonen Hockey” where he introduced his unique approach to player development which masterfully trains the three speeds of hockey: Speed of Hand, Speed of Foot & Speed of Mind.
